Internal directive: safety and health signs at workplaces

The purpose of the internal directive is to determine the conditions for the introduction, use and understanding of safety and health signs at the company's workplaces. Minimum requirements are established by Government Regulation

Definition

Safety and health marking at work refers to a specific object, activity or situation. It provides instructions or information necessary to ensure occupational health and safety. And that through a brand, color, light marking or acoustic signal, or verbal communication or hand signals.

Types of marking

Permanent signs - are used to indicate a prohibition, warning, command, to indicate emergency exits, escape routes, and to locate and mark first aid supplies. A sign according to point 5.6.5 and a safety color according to point 5.3 will be used to permanently mark the location and marking of the fire protection device. The place where there is a danger of colliding with an obstacle or a danger of falling is permanently marked with safety paint or markings. Communications are permanently marked with a security color.

Temporary signs - light signs, acoustic signals or verbal communication are used if there is a need to signal danger or warn employees and other persons in the workplace or on the employer's premises to take emergency measures or to warn of an emergency evacuation. In doing so, interchangeability and combination of designations are taken into account. Hand signals or verbal communication shall be used, if the situation so requires, to direct persons performing an activity that may endanger safety or health.

Scope of validity

This directive is valid for all employees of the company performing work at the employer's workplace. To a reasonable extent, it is also valid for external persons located with the knowledge of the employer at his workplaces.

Requirements

Safety and health signs at workplaces and on the employer's premises must meet the general minimum requirements for safety and health signs at work established in Annex no. 1, general minimum requirements for signs established in Annex no. 2 and the minimum requirements for specific labeling established in annexes no. 3 to 9.
